UPCOMING: Recommended Montreal Shows, February 2018

Get out of your house and into the cold to check out some of Montreal’s amazing concerts! Of course, we want to make it worth it for you, so take a look at some of our recommended shows this month.

ABOVE & BEYOND (February 3rd, 2018):  Promoting the fresh release of Common Ground, the electronic group is touring North America to bring their unifying sound to the stage once more since their string of hit Group Therapy albums. Above & Beyond has hit #1 on the iTunes dance chart in 20 countries and are the first British DJs to sell out New York’s Madison Square Garden,  we think they are definitely worth dancing it out to. ASKING ALEXANDRIA (February 4th, 2018): Their self-titled album has recently hit the market and they are bringing music, described as metalcore (a mix between screamo, hard-rock and heavy metal) and new band members to Montreal this February. Check out their performance and buy tickets here

BROCKHAMPTON (February 6th, 2018): Known as the internet’s first boyband, BrockHampton has been creating alternative hiphop music formed completely by an online forum. Just before the New Year, their three part Saturation trilogy was released.  The group is unique and currently redefining musical dynamics raw enough to find themselves acclaimed by many underground blogs and magazines, such as Varsity and the Verge, amongst many more. ELDERBROOK (February 7th, 2018)The young British producer made his big moment late last year and found himself on the Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart, and later nominated for a 2018 Grammy as Best Dance Recording. We don’t think there is much convincing needed here. Someone climbing the latter at this pace has definite talent. Buy tickets here and check out Cola, Elderbrook’s most recent claim to fame, featuring Camelphat.

BØRNS (February 10th, 2018)Now coming to Montreal as a main act, instead of a under-rated opener, Børns will surely blow you away. Blue Madonna is his third released album, and with it, came the release of three promotional videos. Along with some collaboration with Lana Del Ray, Børns presents his own aesthetic and synch-pop music in his upcoming show. Buy tickets here

STONE SOUR (February 13th, 2018): Forming in the early 1990s, the group disbanded and got back together to be nominated for two Grammy awards in 2003, and to release a new album named Hydrograd. This band’s musical style is a blend of hard rock and heavy metal with dual harmonies of signing and screaming. If you’re into a good head banger show, we highly recommend buying your tickets here

X AMBASSADORS (February 13th, 2018): On a more alternative note, the band that brought us Renegades, and Unsteady have announced the release of a third album JOYFUL. Pre-orders are available through their website and tickets for the Montreal concert are available here

TYLER THE CREATOR & VINCE STAPLES (February 18th, 2018) : Touring again together since 2015, this hip-hop duo will bring fresh material from albums released earlier this year. Notably, Tyler’s Flower Boy debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and Staples’ Big Fish followed closely behind at No. 16. If you want to feel the heat of their new music, buy your tickets here

PORTUGAL, THE MAN (February 21st, 2018): You’ve definitely heard this one on the radio recently; Feel It Still is off their newest album Woodstock and is their biggest hit yet. The band likes to slow it down a bit but also welcomes some edgy melodies, rock undertones and catchy lyrics. We don’t think this show needs much convincing, you’ll be not doubt enthralled and taken away by their talents. Buy your tickets here

HEDLEY (February 21st, 2018): Praise our Canadian idols as they come through Montreal again. The pop-rock group never disappoints. They’re energetic performances and multiple hit singles, including Better Days, from their newer album Cageless and Anything, will put on a great show for a Place Bell audience. Get ready to sing along and buy your tickets here

FRANKLIN ELECTRIC (February 23rd, 2018): Not only Canadian, but also native Montrealer’s. The Franklin Electric will be putting on a show for us for the Festival en Lumière -presenting less ‘folky’ material from their first album. Blue Ceilings is a bit more radio-ready. The success from the hit single This Is How I Let You Down seems to be following them as they continue to rock your emotions with beautiful melodies. Buy tickets here

THE WOODEN SKY (February 28th, 2018): To finish the list with another Canadian born band, we have an indie-folk group that will keep the good vibes flowing. Guaranteed to keep you swaying, they will be promoting the release of Swimming in Strange Waters that is pushing the boundaries between country, rock and folk. If you have a thing for multi-genres music, The Wooden Sky is worth checking out. Buy your tickets here and embrace their unique music in a cool Montreal dive bar, Le Bar Ritz.
